North east coast
We couldn't go far after Taverna, so the morning after we woke up 300m from the restaurant, on the parking lot of Ancient Eleutherna site.( Note the snowy mountain in the background 😀) We put our hiking shoes and had a nice 2h walk, passing tower, rocks and bridge( all ancient I can assure you😜). Obviously on Crete there are hundreds of archeological sites, this one at least was for free and it was a pleasurable walk amongst olive groves accompanied by sheep and goats. For the night we found a perfect place to call home. Today we continued our stroll on the north coast. Visited the most important archeological site on Crete- Knossos palace, home of Minos and the legendary Minotaur. Truly,a bit disappointed.Maybe I was expecting something bigger and described better.Think this actually was our last visit to archeological sites as at the end, they only rocks.
