RollingRocco

Spent few nights at Altopiano di Asiago in time to escape a heatwave at Sandrigo where we left Rocco for some mechanic work. It was fun to be a tourist without the car. I still like bus travelling! Reminds of time when had to take a 50min bus to school every day🤣. And you can sit and relax cose someone else does the driving 🙂. Asiago lies at 1000m but in the last 3 days it was quite hot here as well.  We did some trekking but it was hard!  The Forte Interrotto Trail was ok as it passes in the forest  and Franco managed to find some porcinis!  Which we donated to our hotel owner in exchange for a delicious tiramisu 😋 We couldn't leave without a piece of Asiago cheese (stravecchio -the matured one is so worth it).  We went to Caseificio Pennar as we knew it from our previous visit. Highly recommend if you're in the zone and be sure to try pasta Bigoli all' anatra!!

Last weekend at home! June has gone so fast!We've been busy working a bit, visiting friends and family and running various errands. Franco got busy in the forest  and me in the kitchen 😉. We have celebrated Marisa's ( "Franco's second mum" - his best friend mum)89th birthday, so we used the occassion to invite everyone for a piece of cake as a leaving party. And guess what? We're off again! This time destination North. We're going home to Poland, visiting Slovenia, Hungary and Slovakia on the way and for a grand finale taking a ferry to Sweden. So lots of new adventures to be lived. Will keep you posted!  By the way we also have an Instagram account now RollingRocco1 so be sure to follow us!

Well it's finally time to go home🙂 Franco is not jumping of joy.He would like to go fishing everyday but I always like to come back. We're taking it easy since it's more than 1000km.  First sleepover Campomarino close to Parco Nazionale di Gargano. A small sea side town with long sandy beaches. Next stop a small regional Park outside Pesaro, popular for bicycle ride amongst locals. We normally drive 250 km a day, since 80km/h is Rocco's comfortable zone. We did a little stopover in Chioggia, gracious city situated on a lagoon with Venice nearby it's a less touristy option for a daily sightseeing trip. Than before arriving at Sandrigo to do some minor works on camper we stayed in Valstagna. Wanted to visit Grotte Oliero, unfortunately they were closed but it stays on our list. Puglia! We've been back for 1 week now. We took the ferry back on Monday and arrived in Brindisi.We will be staying for another week since Franco and I are doing thermal treatments sponsored by our wonderful SSN( National Healthcare System). I can definitely recommend if anyone of you are looking for therms and holiday together Santa Cesarea Terme is a great place.  It's a small town dominated by it's colourful Palazzo Sticchi which actually with it's oriental motives looks like a Mosque.  End of May and June is a perfect time since it's still out of peak season, the weather's is great and you can already go for a swim! Unfortunately you are surrounded by rubbish everywhere and it's quite difficult to even find the bins!  Today we helped a lovely couple that live here to clean the beach and thankfully they took it away.If not trying to find plastic bins is quite impossible. For Francos birthday we moved to Sithonia part and found this quiet beach not far away from Porto Koufu. We cycled to the nearest restaurant and got soaked in the rain but it was worth it!  There is a small increase in tourist numbers but still it's quiet and you can have a beach to yourself. For now we've seen more campers on the road than car hire cars. Think from the second week of May the weather is perfect to visit Greece.Last week was very lazy. We stayed at Marathias beach and divided our days between fishing and just normal everyday routine.  We moved today to this beautiful beach, Agridia beach. We will stay here till Sunday when we have to head back to Igoumenitsa to take the ferry home.This part of Sithonia is very nice.Sandy beaches, turquise waters and still the small town atmosphere in all villages. Halkidiki or Chalcidice peninsula is located 100 km from Tessaloniko. It's divided into 3 : Monte Athos, Sithonia e Kassandra. We have recently made a stop at Monte Athos and found a quiet bay for few nights. It is often to see no camping signs but no one bothered us since it's still off season. I have a theory about the no camping signs. We have seen them in places where there are a lot of old caravans parked on the beach or close to the beach. Speaking to one of the friends that has a holiday home in Chalikidika, it was quite normal in the past to just park the caravan where you wanted, almost as a pioneer that arrives and decides it's his piece of land from now on. So first the caravan and than slowly you would build around and buy off the piece of land. Not everyone did this so now they are left with the old caravan carcasses on the beaches that no one wants to move.  Anyway it is exciting for me to be here because recently I've read a crime novel based in Monte Ath...
