Slovakia
We literally flied through Hungary, leaving behind our last stop at Danube river which maybe wasn't the best spot. The river was very dirty and stinky and we were surrounded by mosquitoes 🦟 .
On our crossing to Slovakia the welcoming party was already waiting for us.🙂
We first went to Niskie (lower) Tatry mountains.Although it wasn't packed with tourists we felt it was really pricey and not so picturesque. There was only one free parking spot near Demandovska valley and we generally felt it was expensive to even have chips and you had to pay extra 1.50€ for ketchup! So in total a portion of fries was 5 €! Common! At least the beer was cheap🤣. Wysokie Tatry is a mountain range shared by Slovakia and Poland. This is where we went next and we loved it! Stayed closed to Stary Smokowiec one of the oldest touristy villages with it's beautiful old Grand hotel. We decided to challenge ourselves a bit and did quite altitude demanding trekking at least for us. But the effort was paid off by this majestic views. That's one of the reasons why it's worth sweating to get there. Unfortunately it doesn't help when you discover that there is also an easy way an asphalt road 🤣!The way back was worst than the hike up because of the rocky road that was quite steep so Franco's knees were on fire.
The other reason to do an effort is that you can get to eat whatever you want because you earned it😉.
Steamed bun with butter and poppy seeds ( my grandma was making it with strawberry sauce- the taste of childhood - dziękuję Marysiu). And at the end of the day a true highlander test. Freezing shower!!!
Almost forgot- I present you kofola- Slovakian coke-🙂
