Slovenia
Finally our adventure begins. We left Asiago and moved towards Slovenian border.
Our in between stop Valbruna close to Tarvisio( Udine) has surprised us positively.
We stayed here on weekend and it wasn't crowded at all which in this season is hard to find. It's been very hot lately and we feel it! We wake up early so we can travel while it's still doable. At noon we always try to arrive at the next destination.
Slovenia has surprised us enormously. It's a small country where everything seems green, houses in order, no rubbish around, you have see, mountains and lakes and the scenery is picturesque.
It is also a place where it's quite hard to wildcamp cause you really get a fine, especially in touristy zones. Since it was really really hot and attractions were stormed by visitors we thought it will be better for us to visit Slovenia, Hungary and Slovakia properly on our way back in October. So we can enjoy the calm atmosphere and have all the attractions for us since it's not a busy month!
So we only had few stops here. During our wandering around we punctured the tire😔.
That's my first flat tyre🤣. Thank god Franco knows what to do and we have all the equipment needed. Day after we found a tyre repair shop, great service, spoke English and I tried to speak a bit of Slovenian since some words are similar to Polish. For repairing and changing the tire we paid only 24€!
After the draining tyre experience we decided to treat ourselves to a pleasurable experience -Sparkling ( spumante)wine tasting!😉
We have found this 1800 Slovenian canteen situated on the border with Austria( in the past the town was Austrian) called Dom Penine (Penine means sparkling in Slovenian).
Our wine tour host Martina was very friendly and funny 🙂. We tried a very good brut which was equall if not better quality than some Italian spumante.
Day after we crossed to Hungary. On both borders there was no one to check the documents. We went straight to see the famous Balaton lake which Hungarian compared to it's see.
It's big, around 200km to cycle the whole lake. For us it wasn't inviting enough to have a bath( the water colour was like milky tea) and since we are spoiled 😉we like clear waters to swim in.
Hungary is most famous for it's capital Budapest, therms and wine which we will visit on our return journey.
Now when I am writing this post we decided to stop for a few nights at Dunaj river to just chill and tomorrow we will move to Slovakian mountains. Have a nice day!
