South Central Sweden
We've arrived in Sweden last Friday. The ferry from Poland (Świnoujście) to Trelleborg took around 7,5 hours. We were welcomed by rain, wind and sudden temperature drop. Max 18°C during the day and duve for the night. But I certainly prefer this to 38°C back home.🙂
The famous red houses! They are really as cute as you think!
Fortunately the weather improved and in this days we finally took out our kayak to test. I have never tried kayak so Franco's patience was tested to the limits. Overall I think 🤔 I managed to understand theory and put it into practice. At least we didn't end in water and Franco managed to fish. But I guess there are still a lot of lessons ahead of me.My whole body was killing me after but it was worth it! The peace and the views repayed the fatigue!
Obviously a forest excursion is a must! And what a forest! Seems like everywhere you walk on a moquette! There's this magical atmosphere like in old tales. You really feel that there could be a fairy or an elf behind the corner😉. There is plenty of red berries and black berries and occasionally some mushrooms, so we stocked up our supplies.
Today we arrived at the biggest lake in Sweden- lake Vanern. Fishing is permitted without a payment so Franco and I will try to catch us some famous swedish salmon!
Some of the things we've noticed though that aren't positive are:
Lack of recycle bins- even on the rest areas you only get a small bin for generic waste?
In all natural protected areas we didn't see rubbish bins at all, so think that Swedes are use to taking back their rubbish home but whatabout a tourist?
There are no drinking water taps- in Italy you have taps everywhere- which means you have to buy water? Not mentioning filling up the camper tanks, you're kind of obliged to go to camper site.Which is quite a paradox because we are surrounded by water everywhere...
But you get rest areas gratis with toilets and some of them have waste disposal facilities for campers.( We have a composting toilet so have to dig a whole in a forest ,👍).
Maybe we still out to discover all of Swedish enigmas during our holiday....
