Sardegna's free thermal baths
We briefly stopped at Fordongianus therms which are quite well known in Sardegna.
There is a small public bath by payment but most of the visitors take a bath directly in the river where small pools are divided by stones. You can also visit the old Roman therms situated next to the river. We only had a walk and decided to move on because it was extremely busy with campers and we prefer quieter atmosphere.
The next one -jackpot!! San Saturnino therms. Tiny place near Benetutti Town.
There are proper therms where by payment you can get treatments. In the fields not far away you can find 2 small rock tubs, big enough for 2 people that are free of charge but also quite busy. We met a lovely person Mario that showed us the other tub where mostly locals go. Everyone was very disciplined stayed in a queue and respect the 15 minute rule. Mario gave us an insight on the zone. Said that the tubs sometimes are closed due to the visitors behaviour, leaving the trash around, treating the place as a private spa party.this is no way of the correct conduct. It's everyones place to do the treatment so you should leave the place clean, be respectful and thankful that you can use it! We were invited by Mario to see his Su Pinnettu (traditional hut made of stone and covered with bamboo), located amongs the vineyard and olive trees.
Perfect place to recharge! We can get you in contact if you're interested. He offered us Mirto( traditional liquor) and filu ferru( a strong grappa). We were there for few days so decided to have a tour around. We saw this new tourist sign to go and see the nuraghic tombs.
The road was ok at the beginning but at the end it became really off road, lost in the abandoned groves and we were hoping to connect with a B Road but they closed the passage!!!🤣ðŸ˜So after climbing the fences to visit the tombs( closed as well) we had to go back on the same road. Thank Franco we have Rocco that's 4x4 and we didn't meet another car🫡.
Our last stop was Terme CastelDoria.Another sad example of building speculation. Look at this therms! How can you spend so much money on building it and than let it go into ruin! The water was extremely hot but mixed with the river perfect for dipping 🙂.
Very popular place with locals à nd campers.
Thank you Sardegna for your beauty and hospitality! We're said that you're potential is not fully appreciated and you're not taken care of as you should!
Next day we took a ferry to Livorno and spend the weekend with our friends close to Sestri Levante.
They spoiled us with food and great company and we managed to have a scenic walk around Monte Zatta.
Now we're home and preparing to go to work next week. Will keep you posted🙂
