On our way to L'Aquila
Normally we don't have a timeline on our journey but Franco has to be in Puglia at the beginning of June. We also decided to visit our friend Carletto in L'Aquila so this is the direction we're heading. Our first stop was Castelnuovo di Garfagnana a small medevial borgho in Tuscany.
There wasn't a particular reason for visiting it, but a good in between stop with a free camper zone. It has a lovely center enclosed in a medieval walls. Although the weather wasn't great we managed to visit the fortress of Alfonso mountain and buy some local produce like barley and chestnut flour which this region is known for.
The day after a must stop at the free therms close to Viterbo. We visited this zone before so we knew exactly where to go. Unfortunately the Bagnaccio therms are still preparing to open shortly so we opted for therms just outside of Viterbo.
These are free but unfortunately as always people abuse the privilege of it.There's a lot of litter, people treat the place as a personal spa leaving beer bottles and cigarette buds.
While parked there we met Marco. He saw Rocco just outside Viterbo and wanted to meet us.
He and Sara are huge camper enthusiast and are working on their own camper WM 80.
I think it will be epic ones ready!!!π
So we're impatient to meet them on the road!
They were so lovely to invite us for dinner in an ancient village of Blera-perched on a tuff cliff above a vast and rich rock necropolis. it's an unknown treasure of Tuscia region.
We promised to be back in November, just in time for the wine festival and olive picking. π
