GEORGIA - ABUDELAURI LAKES
Our time with Avto was coming to the end so we decided to chill at the river on the last day. Found a great spot where Franco tried fishing ( no luck but some georgian guys gave us coregone fish as a gift ๐).
We also picked up some blackberries and made marmalade ๐. Avto convinced us to continue to ABUDELAURI LAKES. He unfortunately had to go back home on Friday but would meet us in place on Saturday because he had a tourist group booked for trekking there. So we could just follow the group. Wow ๐ฒ!!! This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.
At the evening we had a whole place to ourselves as not every camper can get here, you will need a 4x4. I have noticed that we had a bit of the sleeping problems because of the high altitude but I was overjoyed to sleep with a duvet and open windows๐!
We were curious to see Georgian tourists as Avto told us that quite often they aren't prepared for walking in the mountains and wear inadequate shoes and clothing. Lately this also happens in Italy. There were some unstable ,rocky descents that people slipped on. Hope they learned their lesson!
There are three lakes - white, blue and green - my favourite one is blue of course!
We left the group almost at the end and proceed on our own to have few minutes in advance. We prepared last glass of Pablo's home made white wine to have a good bye toast with our Tamada Avto ( toastmaster in georgian)! Thank you Avto for the wonderful time we spent together, walking, sharing stories, wine and food. We will definitely cherish these rare moments and wait for you in Italy! I will definitely bring home a new tradition of toasting that I have learned in Georgia. Here is what AI has to say about it:
Toasting in Georgia is a deeply ingrained cultural tradition, particularly during a supra, a traditional Georgian feast. It's more than just a quick "cheers"; it's a structured ritual involving eloquent speeches, often led by a Tamada (toastmaster), and deeply rooted in expressing respect, unity, and communal values.
