Lapponia

Image
Yes! We have crossed the Arctic Circle line🙂It wasn't that magnificent as you think, cose didn't even noticed the sign but still it counts 👍.  Maybe it would be different with the snow and polar lights🤔. Surely the signs were there aka reindeers everywhere! Cute as a button but dumb as a doorknob🤣.  A bit like our wild hares in Italy, once on the road don't know how to get off and continue to run straight ahead! Finally got some decent fish for supper🙂. Love the road signs here but no moose to be seen😭.  Fortunately visited this lovely local shop runed by Sami (indigenous tribe of Lapponia)family and got us some moose steaks😉.There is less traffic however camper spots are often taken so yes there are a lot of campervans in Sweden, mostly German.  We are heading south now as it took us 2 weeks to get here, we still have to go back down to get the ferry. Weather improves while driving so again...

Almost North Sweden

Image
We passed last week moving around and chilling at one of the 10 thousand lakes. Sweden is huge! To get from south to north it's 1500 km and since we're not very fast it takes time. We can definitely feel the climate change here up north with max. 17°C. No sun these days so we start to feel a bit lethargic and sleepy 🥱. Got my autumn jacket on🙂. We found some porcinis and finally caught a fish!!! But we still have some serious fishing to do!!! We're not leaving without a salmon! 🤣. We visited Fullufjallet National park and it's beautiful waterfall.Full of families out on Sunday.  Did a small trekking there but it wasn't that great as the trail was all rocks.  A great thing about Sweden is that everywhere you go there are free small wood cabins to use with some wood chopped and a place to make a fire.  We also discovered that the rest areas along main roads sometimes have a drinkable water tap so we also use it to fi...

Sithonia

Image
For Francos birthday we moved to Sithonia part and found this quiet beach not far away from Porto Koufu. We cycled to the nearest restaurant and got soaked in the rain but it was worth it!  There is a small increase in tourist numbers but still it's quiet and you can have a beach to yourself. For now we've seen more campers on the road than car hire cars. Think from the second week of May the weather is perfect to visit Greece.Last week was very lazy. We stayed at Marathias beach and divided our days between fishing and just normal everyday routine.  We moved today to this beautiful beach, Agridia beach. We will stay here till Sunday when we have to head back to Igoumenitsa to take the ferry home. This part of Sithonia is very nice.Sandy beaches, turquise waters and still the small town atmosphere in all villages. There is plenty of space for everyone and the big hotel chains are inexistent. Now let's hope the wind will stop so we can go f...

A few days in paradise

Image
The last few days have past between siesta, taverna and sun. We have found a perfect lazy spot, where time seems to stop.  Almost no one apart from few German campers. We arrived at the unique palm tree forest in Europe, very windy but worth it.Franco tried to fish and brought us a squid 🦑.   Since it's a weekend we decided to stop at the Taverna to get into Greek spirit ( literally with Raki). Sunday is the most important day to see Greeks out in taverna, eating and sipping Raki, so it's great to be a part of the culture and observe since we are the only tourists. Kato Zakros is the spot that we will stay for few days.We also have a nudist neighbour for tonight 🤣
